From 2022, all iPad devices used at school will be school owned devices supplied by St Patrick’s and supervised on our school network. This means that devices will have all apps and security settings deployed through our own school IT processes. Supervision of these devices by the school (only while on the school network) confines the use of the device towards educational purposes only and reduces the risk to students from inappropriate use of social media, apps, iCloud, iMessage, Facetime and so on.
Over recent years the adoption and use of information and communication technologies in our early years classes has absolutely exceeded our expectations. The level of engagement in learning that we have been able to achieve, as well as the level of proficiency in using devices, has far surpassed the goals we have set for ourselves.
In 2022, class sets of iPads will be made readily available to students from Prep to Year 2. This allows students to access school owned and managed devices as and when required for designated classroom activities. The devices will have all apps and security settings deployed and managed through our own IT processes.
From 2022, all students from Years 3 to 6 will be provided with individual school owned devices, with parents paying an annual access fee for the device via their school fees. Privately owned iPads will no longer be permitted at school.
The devices will be owned by the school and will have all apps and security settings deployed through our own school IT processes. Once devices are on a home network parents need to ensure they have the appropriate security settings and screen time restrictions in place. The devices will be issued with a ruggedised iPad cover which must remain on the device at all times, along with charging cord and power adapter.
The devices can be taken home (or left at school) and used over the school holidays.
Use of these devices will cost parents $250 per year with this charge apportioned to school fees at $62.50 per term. Due to the supervision of these devices, personal apps will not be able to be downloaded on the device for personal use.
The iPad along with charging cord and power adapter is returned to St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School upon the student leaving the school.
